Vacation - Much Needed

We just got back from a nice 4-day weekend in Cayucos. We rented a beach house and went as a family and with our friend Jeannette. I was able to get a really nice beach house for the cost that it normally is during the off season (I do love to bargain). Jeannette and I escaped for a couple of hours to go to the Pismo outlets, which was nice. Since my feet grew during my pregnancy, none of my shoes fit anymore. I am slowly replacing them :). We took the kids to the beach a few times to that Brie and Matt could build sand castles and play in the ocean. Lincoln has decided that sand is his new favorite snack! Yuck! It was just a really nice relaxing time!!

Since I started to feel better, I have been able to do some projects around the house with the help from my very best friend, Jeannette. We have done several things outside. We built a raised veggie bed and added some herbs (we will plant potatoes later); she did a lot of water source moving (sprinkler and drip issues); planted a lemon tree; redid the area to the west of our front yard adding bricks to create a small patio area for some potted plants; planted tomatoes and peppers (that was actually in May, but we're enjoying the produce now); and created a few bench areas with some pots and rocks. Our yard is looking much nicer now and it has been enjoyable to work a little more than I have been able to.

I did a few in-house projects. Mainly hanging some photos that I had been meaning to do for quite some time. I also repaired some holes in thebathroom and hung a lovely shadow box.

Now that the projects are done, I want to focus on cleaning the house a bit before school starts. The kids' room is a MESS!

What Happened?

What on earth happened between Pumpkin Patch Time and now? I had a baby!! Lincoln is a wonderful little guy, but he sure created some problems :). I had a really difficult pregnancy overall - I was sick most of the time and had some medical issues (he was always fine, it was just my body that was not enjoying life). After he arrived I got hit with some major postpartum depression and all of my levels took a super long time to get back to normal. I feel much better now and can do many things that I haven't been able to do in a really long time. I started taking vitamin B supplements because I have a deficiency and those have helped a lot!

The most exciting thing, though, is that I realized that I did want to be home more with the kids, so I have decided to work part time this next school year. I don't know how long that will last, but at least for the year.

Lincoln is already 8 months old. He crawls - not as well as Brie did when she started crawling, but he likes to do the little army crawl. Mainly he is content to just sit. When he has teeth coming in he is a real pill. Poor little guy! He is a big baby too - already over 20lbs. Link is a happy baby and we are enjoying him so much!

Brie is still our little spark plug! She is VERY smart - my dad is convinced she is gifted :). She loves books and is a very sweet girl. Brie can also be sassy, though, so that has been interesting!!!

Well, that's where I've been in a real small nutshell - I will do a few posts about things that have been happening recently, but I just don't have the time to go back 8 months and post every little pic of the baby - poor second child! I can't imagine what would happen if we had another...which by the way we are NOT!
